Rent a Pig Roaster
Renting a Pig Roaster is a fun option for festivals, outdoor parties, graduation parties, Luau’s, barbecues and so much more. The Pig Roaster will both cook your meat to perfection, but will also be a topic of conversation among party guests.
Once you have decided you would like to roast a pig at your event, the roaster will be easy to get to your venue as it is towable and attaches to a 2″ ball on your vehicle (make sure it is rated for towing).
The next step – and the big question most ask – is how do I roast a pig?
Timing – plan on about an hour of cooking time for every 10 pounds of pork.
Charcoal Purchase
Start with 30 pounds to get the roaster up to temperature and have on hand enough charcoal to add about 10 pounds every hour. Make two large lines of charcoal with a valley in the center to place a drip pan to collect all of the drippings. We recommend not using self starting charcoal as it will change the flavor of the pig.
When purchasing your pig, plan on about 1.5 pounds of uncooked meat for each guest. This will cook enough meat for each of your party guests to have a little over 8 ounces of cooked meat when serving.
Once you are ready to cook the pig, it should be placed belly side down and cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 170 degrees. Keep water on hand as the grease may cause a few flare ups that will need to be put out, mainly during the first couple of hours of cooking.
Once the pig is properly cooked, remove it and prepare to carve! It might be a good idea to have a friend help with removal.
