Many brides and grooms need ideas for wedding reception favors. There was a time when the creativity level of the favors you could buy was not that great. Wedding favors were pretty interchangeable from wedding to wedding. Thankfully now we do not have that problem!
It may even seem like the problem is that there are too many choices. Where does a bride start? With there being so many difficult decisions to make during wedding planning, you do not want what favor to give be one of them!
To make things easier I would suggest you answer a few questions first. How much money can you afford to spend? How many favors will you give to each guest? What type of favor do you want to give out as a token of your appreciation?
Wedding favors all cost a little different, and it of course depends on the quality of the favor as well as the type of favor. Many favors fall into the range of $ 1-2 a piece where as others can cost anywhere between $ 5-10 each. Many brides and grooms will start narrowing their options by what they can afford to buy all their guests.
One way to lighten your financial load is to make the favors yourself. You can do this by purchasing favor bags or boxes as well as some bulk food items like Jordan almonds or mints and filling them yourself. Or you could always get your bridal party to help!
How many favors per guest might also depend upon your budget. However if you are looking to give more than one favor a popular way to do this is to give one favor per guest and then have a candy dish in the center of each table filled with candy or other sweet treats. Another would be to make your own favor bags and include smaller favors with the large one like match books, food items or magnets.
Now that you have thought out how many favors and what you are willing to spend have you decided what type of favor to give out? This is something you should spend a little time thinking about. There are many possibilities such as flower seed packages, candles, candle holders, candy, coasters and bookmarks.
Themed weddings have even more specific choices available to a bride and groom. Usually these are wedding favors with certain designs or themes in mind. Like beach weddings could have favors decorated in seashells, sand castles, beach umbrellas or sand pails. For those brides and grooms who share passions like golf, motorcycles, hockey or camping, you would want to find themed favors to emphasize those passions.
Now that you have some great ideas it is time start shopping. Keep your guests in mind when you shop as these favors are a token of your appreciation, you do want them to like them. Be creative and keep an open mind and most of all have fun!
