Our China is washed, sanitized and ready for use upon rental and is packaged in dish racks that keep them safe and make them easy for you to rinse off after the party is over.   Pieces are rented individually, so you can pick and choose exactly what items you want for your reception or party.

Ever wonder how a Salt and Pepper Shaker Set made its way into almost everyone’s homes and become such a great pair?  Salt was first used in 450BC in China and pepper originated in India about 4000 years ago, according to historians.  So where did these two meet?  Rumor has it that King Louis XIV was the man who first put salt and pepper on the table together as he did not care for many seasonings, and found these to his liking.  Makes sense because at one time salt and pepper were both commodities that only the very rich could afford.  In fact, in Roman times, salt was a part of the guards paycheck called ‘salarium’ which has now evolved into salary.  This is where the saying ‘they aren’t worth their salt’ comes from – a lazy or poor worker was not as valuable as the salt they received in their wages.  Regardless of how these two met, thanks to Louis XIV or whoever introduced this power couple.

When setting a formal table for your party, each piece of flatware has a certain place. The Dinner Plate should be placed one inch from the end of the table and the bases of all of the silverware should be in line with the base of the plate.  On the left working from the plate out is the dinner fork and the salad fork.  On the right, again working from the plate out will be the knife (blade pointed towards the plate), teaspoon and then the soup spoon.  Above the plate placed horizontally is the dessert fork with tines pointing to the right and above that, the dessert spoon with the bowl facing towards the left.  The butter spreader should be laid across the bread and butter plate diagonally with the handle pointed towards the plate and with the blade pointing down to the left.

The matching Butter Spreader and Soup Spoon are not shown.  When requesting a web quote, please indicate in the notes section which pieces of flatware you would like to rent and the quantities of each.

A Square China Rental is a cost effective and unique way to serve food at your special event, cocktail party or appetizer buffet.   The white finish of this china allows the colors of the food to be the star of the plate.  The rectangle dishes can be used as fun guest plates or for plating appetizers to give your buffet a little pizzazz.  The bowls have a slight rim so are easy to carry if guests are mingling, but also great on cabaret tables to serve nuts or pretzels.  All of these pieces can be chilled or warmed for serving and are microwave safe.  We also offer White Round China so you can mix and match the round and square shapes at the buffet or for different food courses for a more eclectic celebration.
